Winter skin is upon us… heres how you can beat it

As winter nears, the dryer the air, the dryer our skin. We also tend to turn the heat up in our shower and warmer water washes away more of the body’s oils, making us more prone to dry skin as well. Try and limit yourself to a 5-8 minute shower or bath each day. I personally love the ZO skin care line for corrective treatment and recommend trying some of the products below:

If you have dry skin, AHAs are your BFF

Some popular AHA’s include glycolic (derived from sugar cane), lactic (made from sour milk), and mandelic (comes from almonds) acids.  They are ideal for sun-damaged and dry skin because they help to exfoliate and moisturize.

Try Glycogent™ a mix of potent but gentle glycolic and lactic acid https://zoskinhealth.com/zomedical/glycogent use as directed.

My skin feels super hydrated after I apply BRIGHTENEX 0.5% Retinol Skin Brightening & Correcting Crème that contains a potent blend of retinol, melanin inhibitors and antioxidants to rapidly brighten and even skin tone quality. Use as directed.

And another great and popular product is C-Bright™10% vitamin C Serum that gives skin a mega-dose of pure vitamin C to retexturize the skin, use as directed.

Now for those cold, irritating dry winter nights I end my regimen with, Ommerse® Overnight Recovery Crème. It is pretty thick so if that’s not you then test it out first,  I typically don’t like anything thick but in the winter this consistency is perfect.  It works overnight to repair and regenerate severely dry, irritated skin.

For body I exfoliate with Correcting Hand and Body Scrub , which is a chemical and mechanical exfoliating system that combines salicylic acid and sugar crystals that leave skin, smooth and younger-looking.  If you don’t like the protecting barrier it creates on the skin, rinse with a gentle wash.

Last but not least, sunscreen is crucial to preventing numerous skin conditions. Look for SPF30 or higher, as in ZO Skin Health Oclipse Sunscreen +Primer Broad Spectrum SPF30  Exclusive 12-hour time-release antioxidant complex guards against photodamage

Provides daily multi-defense protection from UVA, UVB and high-energy visible (HEV) light

If you prefer another brand my advice is to read the labels and look for certain ingredients. Ceramides, helps skin retain water and soothe dry skin. Dimethicone and glycerin draws water to the skin and keeps it there. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is like ceramides and also helps the skin to retain moisture. Lanolin, mineral, and petroleum jelly are other ingredients that help skin hold on to the water absorbed during bathing.
